music group
Paul Johnson & Colin Jeffs lead the music group at King’s Church and are responsible to the elders for the direction of the group in terms of musical content, caring for individuals within the band, arranging rehearsals, and general administration of the band.
The team is made up of smaller groups, who specialise in instrumental areas. These groups are listed below with their leaders, who are responsible for developing arrangements of songs and assisting musicians in rehearsals and encouraging/mentoring group members:
Vocals - Lynsey Atherton and Cath Matthews
Guitars and Bass - Peter Leyland and Phil Matthews
Horns and Acoustic Instruments - Neil Atherton
Keyboards - Rachel Johnson
Percussion and Technical - Paul Johnson
This team works to produce excellent music for Sunday services, town wide events, café style services, concerts and other settings. Many members of the team also help to provide music for worship within their own cell groups.
The team has been involved in supporting lots of events which use music to entertain people and provide an easy environment for people to connect with King’s Church for the first time. These have included songs from the musicals, classical items, choral pieces, rock songs, jazz and even a bit of S-Club!!! We really enjoy playing our instruments, singing and having fun with it and believe that God can use that to help reach people who don’t know Jesus yet.
The band rehearses on Monday evenings from 8:00pm-10:00pm, currently at St Paul’s Penketh, who very kindly allow us to use their building. New members are always welcome to come along to practices. Anyone who is interested should speak to Paul or Col, or the small group leader who is responsible for their instrument.
